The Cape Wine Route
THE CAPE WINE ROUTE
You will remember the tranquility and scenic beauty of the Cape Wine Region long after you return home from your South African holiday. The Dutch started the wine industry here during the mid 1600′s, followed shortly after that by the French Huguenots bringing their unique culture and wine making experience to this part of the world and making the Cape the oldest of the new world wine producers. This region producers most of the French and European cultivars as well as the now famous South African hybrid cultivar- Pinotage. The areas of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek (French Corner) all have lush fertile valleys and spectacular mountain vistas. The local towns within the valleys are lined with magnificent Cape Dutch and Georgian influenced architecture with the real gems being the grand manor houses on the wine estates. Most of these estates and cellars are open to the public for viewing and wine tasting and also offer some of the finest South African cuisine.
All guided day tours usually depart your hotel at 9am and return at 5pm ( subject to YOUR requirements )
