Highlights:

*Gordons Bay

*Rooi Els

*Hermanus

*Wine Tasting at Hamilton Russel

*Harold Porter Botanical Gardens

*Sir Lowry’s Pass

Hout Bay Harbour is usually the first stop of the morning en route to Cape Point. Many tourists to the harbour will join one of the 40min boat trips to view a large colony of Cape Fur Seals on the island just off the coast. The harbour is responsible for supplying much of fish and Cape Lobster to many of Cape Town’s restaurants. The bay is a natural sheltered anchorage with a long white sandy beach and clear blue sea, perfect for water sports in the summer. The entire area is a colourful mix of fishing boats, private yachts and local people selling an array of African art and curios. The harbour market is the traditional type where you barter with the traders to achieve an aggreable price.

Chapmans Peak Drive is definitely one of the most scenic coastal roads in South Africa. The road is part of the route we take when making our way down to Cape Point from Cape Town , overlooking the Hout Bay region and the local fishing village. There are numerous stop off points along the route where one can take in views and photograph the magnificent sea and mountain views. This road is approximately 15 km long. carved into the cliffs 250 meters above the sea.It was built using convict labour and completed in 1922 to join the towns of Hout Bay in the north and Noordhoek in the south.Over the years the road has undergone many upgrades and requires regular maintenance due to the brittle nature of the sedimentary sandstone that is cut into. One is often likely to see schools of dolphins, seals and Southern Right Whales (in season) in the bay below.

Fifteen minutes drive from the city center and waterfront is the exclusive residential area of Camps Bay.The beach here is one of the most beautiful (and most photographed) in the world. The long arch of white sand and calm cobalt waters are flanked by Lion’s Head mountain and the Twelve Apostles.Locals and tourists spend lazy days here soaking up the sun and then indulging at one of the many restaurants and cafes along the beachfront stretch. Many tourists will make Camps Bay their base when staying in Cape Town, making use of the upmarket Guest Houses and Villas overlooking the sea.
